Two ways in, one way to sign
With a wallet or with email
There are two ways in. With your wallet, by signing a message that proves you own the address without ever sharing a private key. Or with an email and password, if you would rather start without a wallet. The difference matters: anything that moves money -- paying for an order, releasing an escrow deposit, getting paid for a sale -- is signed with a wallet. An email account can browse, chat, follow stores and save favourites, but it needs to link a wallet before it can pay or get paid. If anyone ever asks for your private key to "verify" you on Ikiraro, it is not Ikiraro.
How you connect your wallet
You open your wallet
You need a compatible wallet, like MetaMask or another extension following the same standard.
You authorize the connection
Your wallet shows you which address you're going to share with Ikiraro. We never ask for your seed phrase.
You sign a one-time message
It's a signature, not a transaction: it costs no gas and moves no funds, it just proves the wallet is yours.
You're connected
From then on that wallet signs your transactions, and your purchases, sales, favourites and reputation stay tied to your account.
What is linked to your account
- Your purchase and sales history, visible only to you.
- Your seller reputation, calculated transparently based on your transactions.
- Your identity verification (KYC), needed only if you want to sell.
- Your favorites and saved product lists.
An identity, not just another account
If you come in with a wallet, the difference from a traditional user account is that the wallet does not belong to Ikiraro: you can use it anywhere else in the crypto ecosystem, and if you ever leave the platform you take your identity with you. An email account lives in our database like any account, and you can link a wallet to it whenever you want from your security settings.
