More than products: everything you can run through an escrow contract
Escrow doesn't ask anything of a box
An escrow contract does something very simple: it holds a payment until an agreed condition is met. That condition can be "the package arrived", but it can also be "the job was delivered", "the vehicle was transferred", or "the equipment was returned in good condition". If there's a delivery and a confirmation point, there's a place for that transaction on Ikiraro.
Professional services
Design, development, consulting, video editing, private lessons. The client pays upfront, the amount sits in escrow, and it's released when they confirm the work (or each agreed milestone) is delivered. For freelancers it means getting paid without depending on the client's word; for whoever hires, it means not paying for something that never arrives.
Rentals
Photography equipment, tools, event spaces, short-stay properties. The security deposit and the rental payment sit in the same contract: part is released upon confirming delivery of the item, and the deposit is refunded (fully or partially) when the item comes back in the agreed condition.
Buying and selling vehicles
Cars, motorcycles, boats: high-value transactions where trust is everything. The buyer deposits the payment in escrow before coordinating delivery and title transfer; the seller knows the money is already committed before moving the vehicle. Less "I'll meet you on the corner with cash", more security for both parties.
Other uses we're already seeing
Coworking spaces and meeting rooms
Book by the hour or by the day, with payment released upon confirmed check-in.
Content production and events
Cameras, sound, lighting: rent equipment for one-off jobs without tying up capital buying it.
Technical and construction services
Repairs, installations, phased remodeling, with payment released per milestone.
Peer-to-peer vehicle rental
Borrow a car by the day, with a security deposit managed by the same escrow contract.
Same commission, same protection
It doesn't matter if you list a product, a service, or a rental: the commission is still a fixed 6%, well below the 13% or more that traditional platforms charge for this kind of transaction. And all of them benefit from the same verifiable reputation you've already built with your past sales.
- Any transaction with a delivery and a confirmation can be protected with escrow.
- Security deposits on rentals are managed within the same contract.
- High-value transactions, like vehicles, benefit the most from a verified upfront payment.
